Moore Chamber of Commerce
Mission Statement
The mission of the Moore Chamber of Commerce is to promote and facilitate the growth of the business community for our members and stakeholders.
Letter from the President
As I come to the final days of 2009, I find myself reflecting on the accomplishments of the Moore Chamber of Commerce and I am reminded of the privilege of having served together with your Chamber staff, your Chamber Board of Directors and the 2009 Moore Chamber President Patti Morgan.
The year began with considerable economic uncertainty and found relief along the way as the state of Oklahoma’s economy held its own and the Moore economy, by most measures, continued to be a model for success that other communities seek to emulate.
Every sector of the Moore community is poised for the challenges that 2010 could bring and is properly optimistic for another year of continued success as a member of the Moore business community and the Moore Chamber of Commerce.
I am eagerly anticipating the coming year of service as the President of your Chamber of Commerce. I enthusiastically encourage your investment as a Moore Chamber member for 2010. Whatever 2010 brings, there is no better time for your business to reap the benefits of a Chamber that has proven its value to Moore business owners and the entire Moore business community.
Wishing each of you the greatest success in 2010.
Sincerely,
Jerry Monroe, President
Moore Chamber of Commerce
I have felt very honored to serve as the Moore Chamber of Commerce president this year. Working with the Moore community and the Chamber staff has been a pleasure for me.
The Chamber has continued growing to well over 600 members while maintaining the majority of our prior membership. While many other parts of the country have seen more of the recession than us, Moore continues to grow with new businesses and homes. The City of Moore and the Moore Chamber continue to work together to bring in new businesses and offer support to our existing ones.
Along with the growth of the community we have seen a need for improved infrastructure. Over the last few years the citizens and business owners of Moore voted to increase sales tax to give us better public safety along with a bond issue to improve our streets. While we have experienced some growing pains, it has been nice to see our tax dollars at work providing better protection and streets.
I want to thank our members who always come together as a team whenever there is an event or a need from the Chamber. If you are not a current member, we are constantly seeking new members and would consider it a privilege if you would join our team.
Sincerely yours,
Patti A. Morgan, Past President
Moore Chamber of Commerce
About the Chamber
The Moore Chamber of Commerce is a member-driven organization whose mission is to promote and facilitate the growth of the business community for our members and stakeholders. Established in 1946, the Chamber has served as the voice of the Moore business community for 60 years, and stands ready to serve an ever-growing community. An investment in the Chamber is beneficial in many ways – both directly and indirectly.
The Chamber provides a unified voice in governmental affairs on local, state, and national levels. We follow issues that affect businesses and encourage our elected officials to support those that would have a positive impact and oppose those that would be detrimental to the business community.
The Chamber works closely with the City of Moore in its efforts to assist existing businesses and to attract new ones. This gives our citizens the ability to find products and services locally, and at the same time increases the sales tax revenues that allow the city to provide improved services. Community pride is beneficial to businesses. Consumers have a positive attitude when they look around and see an attractive, well-maintained store or office facility.
Realizing the importance of our youth to the city’s future, the Chamber is a strong advocate of education. The Chamber annually gives recognition to outstanding students, teachers, and patrons. In addition, awards are given to businesses, organizations, and individuals who have provided assistance to the schools.
An important benefit of Chamber membership is networking with other area business people. Membership luncheons, Business After Hours, Business Before Hours, ribbon cuttings, and other functions provide opportunities to make new business contacts.
Referrals are another direct benefit of membership. The Chamber office receives questions daily about where to obtain particular products or services. We check our membership data, and when we have members who offer the requested product or service, those are the names provided.
On behalf of the board of directors, staff, and members of the Moore Chamber of Commerce, we welcome you to our great city!
