Advocacy for Business Interests2024 Eggs & Issues with the Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency

The Chamber’s mission as an advocate for the business community is fulfilled by serving as the collective voice for businesses. This is achieved through the dedication of the Board of Directors, as well as the efforts of programs, the Government Affairs Committee, and task forces. In addition, all initiatives are designed to support and promote the economic and business interests of Moore and the surrounding area.

Goal of Government Affairs

The primary goal of Government Affairs is to strengthen relationships with elected officials. Additionally, efforts are directed toward the development and advocacy of local, state, and national public policy. Ultimately, these initiatives aim to support the businesses and consumers of the Moore area.

Areas of Focus

The focus of Government Affairs includes several key objectives:

  • Advocacy for business-related issues at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Fostering connections and relationships with policymakers.
  • Providing timely information and education for Chamber members.
  • Equipping members for effective involvement and influence.

Key Governmental Affairs Activities

Key activities and events related to governmental affairs are offered to support these objectives:

First Friday Coffees (refer to calendar for more information on dates):
Topics such as Legislative Updates during session, BNSF, Moore Infastructure, Cleveland County Update, and much more are included.

Eggs & Issues Series (Minimum of six times a year):
Topics such as Legislative Forecast, MPS Update, Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency, and much more are included.

Moore Civics Bee (NEW for 2025):
Fostering greater civic knowledge and engagement among students. By promoting civic pride and understanding, the Chamber aims to highlight the importance of informed and active citizenship, which is essential for a strong country, economy, and workforce.

Other Main Events:
Events such as Day at the Capitol, Legislative Summit, Military Appreciation Luncheon, State of the City, and State of the Schools are organized annually.

Ongoing Efforts:
Relationships with governmental officials are maintained, issues are monitored, and action is recommended when necessary.

Legislative Agenda Publication:
The Legislative Agenda is published to affirm the Chamber’s positions on key issues, which include the following:

  • Business and economic development.
  • Military and public safety.
  • Education.
  • Workforce development and healthcare
